Organizing Your Personal "Nuts & Bolts" While You're Stuck at Home
.
While stuck at home during this challenging, volatile time, consider taking this opportunity to revisit your "nuts and bolts." Whether you're single or have a family of your own, it's not a bad time to ego through a personal checklist. Here are some key categories to think about, and a few tips if you're in a productive mindset.
Personal finances
Try to avoid panicking at the state of the market right now. Chances are, your financial advisor is swamped and handling the same nervous phone calls from various (or almost all) clients. Draft up any questions you might have and consider emailing them instead.

Future planning
Talk with your family and/or draft your own personal notes around the next 5 years, 10 years, and so on. Consider key goals, possible challenges, "what if" scenarios, and identify areas that can be addressed in the short-term.

Revisit your insurance policies
Haven't talked with your insurance provider in a while? Now is a great time to consider your current policies, look at any gaps - and you may find an opportunity to save money in the short-term. While many people are driving less and staying home, you could qualify for a discounted auto policy for driving less miles or having only a part-time need for your vehicle. Talk with an agent and find out what your options and opportunities are.

Health & fitness

While stuck inside, it's still possible to look for healthy ways of going about your day to day. At-home workouts are not ideal, but not impossible - and getting outside for a run or a bike ride can be a great way to refresh both physically and mentally. Consider healthy meal delivery options if you can, up your water intake, and think about organizing your health goals and insurance plans over the next 3-6-9 months.

Pay it forward
While many restaurants, bars, and small businesses are closed (and more closing every day) across the country, take the opportunity to support your favorite spot by purchasing a gift card to use later.
